Day 1: Toronto to Montreal

Our adventure begins early with a friendly welcome from your Moose guide before we journey toward Montréal. Our first stop is at the Big Apple; be sure to try their famous apple pie! Next is a lunch stop before a cruise through the Thousand Islands, located in the Saint Lawrence River along the Canada-USA border. Enjoy Ontario’s unique landscape, where over 1800 islands form this incredible archipelago. Tonight we explore the vibrant nightlife of Montréal, just steps away from the hostel. (Thousand Islands boat cruise included).

Day 2: Montreal

This morning we explore Montréal, City of Festivals, and an important cultural mecca in French-speaking Canada. Afterward, enjoy free time to explore on your own. We recommend the hike to the top of Mont Royal for spectacular views of the Island of Montréal, as well as some authentically Montréal cuisine (try Schwartz’s Deli for Montréal smoked meat!). Don’t forget your translator to assist with your language skills. (Breakfast included).

Day 3: Montreal to Riviere-Du-Loup

Our journey eastward continues to our overnight destination, Rivière-du-Loup (French for ‘wolf river’). Our travels take us along spectacular vistas through small Francophone settlements that were founded by Basques fishermen from France over 350 years ago. The Saint Lawrence River changes from fresh to salt water in this area so watch for marine animals. Enjoy a group dinner at hostel tonight. Be sure to take a short walk to Parc des Chute this evening to see its impressive waterfall. (Breakfast and dinner included).

Day 4: Riviere-Du-Loup to Moncton

Today we journey to the Maritimes; first stop, New Brunswick—the only officially bilingual province in Canada so you can still practice your French language skills! New Brunswick has a rich French-speaking culture retained by the Acadians—a cultural group with a very distinct history. Today we see the world’s longest covered bridge before checking into our hostel in Moncton. (Breakfast included).

Day 5: Moncton to Halifax

This morning we start our journey into another Maritime Province, Nova Scotia! First, we will board a lobster boat cruise and enjoy a fresh caught lobster lunch. We arrive in Halifax, Nova Scotia in the late afternoon and then join your guide for a city walk. Be sure to see the view of Halifax from Citadel Hill, a National Historic Site of Canada built in the 18th Century as the city’s defence. (Breakfast included).

Day 6: Halifax

Enjoy free time to explore Halifax today; there is a lot to see and do in this Maritime city. We recommend taking a tour of the Alexander Keith’s Brewery, exploring nature in Point Pleasant Park, or walking alongside the Halifax harbour for beautiful views! Tonight we can head out for a group dinner at a local pub!

Day 7: Halifax to Pleasant Bay, Cape Breton Island

The day begins with meeting any passengers on our Newfie Tour before heading toward the awe-inspiring region of the Cape Breton Highlands, home to Canada’s Scottish heritage. There are several breathtaking photo stops en-route and we will hike the famous Skyline Trail; keep your eyes open for moose! Tonight we stay in a lovely hostel alongside the Cabot Trail. (Dinner included).

Day 8: Pleasant Bay, Cape Breton Island To Baddeck, Cape Breton Island

Today we continue to explore Cape Breton Island. You have the option for an additional $50.00 CAD to embark on an amazing whale watching tour in the Atlantic Ocean! We continue our drive along the Cabot Trail and stop for a leisure hike up the Skyline Ridge where the views are spectacular. We spend the evening by campfire alongside fellow passengers. (Dinner included).

Day 9: Baddeck, Cape Breton Island To Norris Point

Today begins the long, but worthwhile, journey to Newfoundland. After a 6 hour ferry journey, across the Atlantic Ocean, we drive to Norris Point, a picturesque Newfoundland coastal community located at the doorstep of Gros Morne National Park. Canada is simply massive, so long travel times are the only way to discover its vast greatness.

Day 10: Norris Point, Gros Morne National Park

Day 11: Norris Point to Trinity East

This morning we visit the Tablelands. This area looks more like a barren desert when contrasted to typical Newfoundland landscape. This is due to the ultramafic rock, peridotite. The rock was forced up from the Earth’s mantle during a plate collision several hundred million years ago. After exploring the Tablelands, we journey to beautiful Trinity East. Tonight we have a group meal at the hostel. (Dinner included).

Day 12: Trinity East

We get the morning started by walking the famous Skerwink Trail on the Bonvavista Peninsula. On the trail, watch for bedrock layers that are tilted almost 90 degrees on Skerwink Head, and many other dramatic landforms. After a full morning of hiking, we will enjoy lunch before taking a short drive to the quaint communities of Bonavista and Elliston; watch out for whales, puffins, and icebergs (depending on the season). Enjoy a relaxing group dinner and evening at the hostel. (Dinner included).

Day 13: Trinity East to St. John's

Day 14: St. John's

Enjoy a free day in St. John’s with your new found Moose friends! We certainly recommend the hike up to Signal Hill for incredible city and ocean vistas. Signal Hill is a National Historic Site of Canada, noted for its defence fortifications built in the 17th Century, and saw the French surrendering St. John’s to the British in 1762. From Signal Hill, hike along the East Coast Trail to Quidi Vidi, a perfectly quaint coastal village that is a must-see in St. John‘s.

Day 15: St. John's to Ferry

We set sail for mainland Canada today. As we drive through the beautiful Avalon Peninsula, look out for Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America. We will board the ferry in the early evening for an overnight adventure across the Atlantic Ocean.

Day 16: Ferry to Moncton

We journey back into New Brunswick today and take a tour of the Hopewell Rocks, a topographically impressive region of the Bay of Fundy. This is where you can see and learn about the incredible tidal changes which are some of the highest in the world! Tonight join your guide for a city walk and night out on the town.

Day 17: Moncton to Gaspe

This morning we will drive north to the Gaspé Peninsula, a beautiful region of Québec surrounded by the Saint Lawrence River and the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. Enjoy a leisure evening at your unique accommodation Auberge Festive Sea Shack. This beachside hostel has plenty of outdoor activities and a tiki bar! (Breakfast included).

Day 18: Gaspe

We’ll spend today exploring Gaspésie National Park, defined by the Chic-Choc Mountains and and McGerrigle Mountains. The altitude impacts the climate that contributes to the beauty of the landscape and the diversity of species. We will enjoy some hiking; keep your eyes open for moose or caribou! Tonight, enjoy a campfire under the stars. Inquire with the hostel staff about an optional activity to embark on a moonlit sea kayak excursion!

Day 19: Gaspe to Quebec City

Today we start back towards Québec City. With a quick stop at Montmorency Falls, we arrive in Québec City in the evening. Québec City is renowned for its historic defence walls, known as the Ramparts of Québec City. Be sure to climb this National Historic Site of Canada to enjoy spectacular city views and an unforgettable sunset. Tonight, enjoy some poutine (Snack Bar is certainly recommended) to get a taste of local flavour; bon appétit!

Day 20: Quebec City

Take time today to wander the city’s narrow walkways and historic streets; a walk down to the Lower Town is a must-do! Enjoy another group dinner at the hostel before venturing out for a fun night. (Dinner included).

Day 21: Quebec City to Ottawa

We journey into the countryside of “la belle province” and travel to Canada’s capital city, Ottawa. After settling into the hostel, join your guide for a walk to historic Parliament Hill before ending in the Byward Market for an evening of your choosing. If time permits, be sure to admire the view from Nepean Point; it is spectacular.

Day 22: Ottawa to Toronto

The last day of our amazing tour! We head to Toronto today, stopping along the way to have a picnic lunch at Sandbanks Provincial Park on one of the most beautiful beaches in Ontario! We arrive back in Toronto in the early evening. (Breakfast included).
